I purchased a 2003 Jaguar S-Type for $25,000 through Roadloans/Triad Financial. My payments were roughly $550 a month. After 6 months of driving the vehicle, I started to have problems with it. Windows wouldn't roll up all the way & the breaks were squeaking. The vehicle and it became a true headache. If anyone knows about Import Vehicles, they are a bear to maintain. I got a few payments behind and couldn't catch-up, so I decided to "voluntarily" have it Repo'ed. I was told that they would sell it in an auction, and whatever they got for it; I would have to pay the balance. I got a letter in the mail from Triad, saying they sold the vehicle for $14,000. Which made me responsible for $11,000. I made arrangements to pay $125 a month to pay the balance off". This arrangement helped my situation because I was exhausting all of my pay to payoff other creditors from a divorce/. I made arrangements to have the funds come directly out of my checking account, so there would be no mistakes!. Each year, we renewed the arrangement and all was good". Recently, I got deployed to Africa for 6 months and had no access to my account.. Once I returned to the states, I was greeted with several nasty messages on my answering machine from Triad Financial.. To this day, I have called and left messages, but noone has returned my call?. I am now in South Korea, serving a year tour;. My issue is, after a year of paying Triad on $11,000; how does my balance go to $16,500? Until they can explain what the heck is going on, I am not sending them a dime! 129c003

Your balance is called a "deficiency balance" and it continues to accrue at the original interest rate. Assuming you had a pretty high interest rate to begin with, your accrual is probably much more then the $125 a month that you're paying them. The payment will stop them from suing you and garnishing your wages but it will not pay down the amount that you owe. Vol Repo was a very bad move.
